In 2 ½ days (not including today) I will be in 6thgrade and leaving Chickering School so the Middle School will now be my school. I will miss Chickering because I have memories, but not all memories are GOOD. Here are some memories:
Nature’s Classroom ~ we slept over in New Hampshire for 3 nights and 4 days. We slept in cabins and I had a lot of my great friends in my cabin.
When I broke my arm on the last day of school last year ~ at recess I was playing goalie and a boy kicked the ball and I made a save and my wrist went to far back and I broke my arm. I had a cast on for a lot of the summer.
Dr. Craft ~ (my 3rd grade teacher) she would always sing and she always wore high-heals. For a school fundraiser some teachers were playing basketball against the Harlem Wizards and she wore high-heal sneakers.
1st Grade buddies ~ her name is Mica (I wrote a post about her, just go to my search bar and type in Mica to read it) we did fun things together through out the year.
Wacky Wednesday ~ on a Wednesday everyone in the school dressed up wacky.
5th grade luncheon ~ for the 5th grade we had a big party with a DJ, pizza, cake and we got to sign peoples yearbooks.
Even though I had so many memories I want to go to middle school because we get lockers, more independence, we get to switch from class to class and at lunch we can get to sit wear ever we want. I want Middle school but part of me wants to stay at Chickering.

This week is teacher appreciation week. This is post in honor of my teacher, Mrs. Chiavarini and my assistant teacher, Mrs. Angelus. They are great teachers because…
Mrs.Chiavarini: You always make everyone feel good and you make everyone feel smart even if they are having trouble. You make everything easier and more fun. Every day when I walk in you’re always in a good mood. You always have a smile on your face even when you’re mad at our class. Thank you for all you have done this year to make this year GREAT!
Mrs. Angelus: I love your sense of humor . You always make me laugh, even though you use to mix up my name. You are a great teacher to have around. When I make mistakes you’re always their to catch them and help me with the stuff I have trouble with. My favorite part of the year was when you picked my name out of a hat on St. Patty’s Day for candy. You are an awesome teacher and Thank You for all you done to make this year GREAT!
Thank You Teachers for making this year great! I will remember both of you!

Right now I am reading the Secret Language of Girls by Frances O’Roark Dowell. I am just starting it but so far I have thoughts about it. Kate is one of the main characters in the story. The part I have just read is that Marylin, Kate’s best friend is sleeping over at Kate’s house. Kate does no really care what she does or what she looks like. On the other hand, Marylin does. In the text, she is really embarrassed that her toe next to her big toe is bigger than her big toe. To try to make it look better she put nail polish on. Marylin just likes to fit in so sometimes she does not know what to say and then it comes out mean. She regrets saying it afterwards. Kate is very kind to everything, like when Marylin was sleeping over and a baby bird’s mother died, she took care of it in a shoe box. Also, she stayed up with it all night. On the other hand, all Marylin wanted to do was sleep and she told Kate the bird was going to die. This all makes me realize that is does not mean you have to like the same things or act the same way to best friend because opposites attract.

On Friday in class we did barter day. We had barter day because it was for history. The colonists did not have money back then so they traded for things, which is bartering. We all made homemade items and brought them to trade with other peoples items. I learned that you don’t always get what you want because sometimes people don’t like your items so you have to offer more. Also, sometimes you might have to give up some item that you really like or give up an item that you got from someone else. I made weaved keychains and some cookies. If we had another barter day I would make more keychains and less cookies. The keychains were more of a hit because people would trade good stuff for a keychain but I ran out so I did not get some stuff I wanted. The only good use the cookies were was that if the person was not that thrilled about trading I would throw in a cookie so it would sound like a better deal. I would also make more of blue and green keychains because people liked those colors most and those colors were the first ones to sell. By having barter day, made me realize that it is so much better now that we have money and it was tough to get what you wanted back then. Barter day was really fun and I would love to do it again.
Note~check out other peoples blog to see what they think about barter day and check out Mrs. Chiavarini’s blog to watch a slide show of my class bartering.
